Integrated Operations Group Inc. (IOG) is a growing full-phase forest development firm with operations across BC tailoring primarily to the forestry, construction and utility industries. We are leaders in commercial thinning and fire hazard abatement, specializing in innovative processes to complete challenging forestry projects with a focus on value rather than volume. Our team consists of professional foresters, equipment operators, fallers, tree climbers, forest engineers and other resource professionals.
THE OPPORTUNITY
IOG is seeking a motivated, self-starting individual to fulfill the role of FOREST OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR for our Okanagan operations. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Forest Operations Supervisor is a critical role that helps to oversee the production and safety of our day-to-day commercial thinning, fire hazard abatement, and utilities projects, including project coordination and business development. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with local industries and a willingness to develop future opportunities. This position is a combination of office and field elements, requiring some camp accommodations in various locations across BC, but will generally be regionally based in the Okanagan.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the Operations Manager in the oversight and execution of all aspects of regional utilities, commercial thinning, and fire abatement projects
- Develop and document effective work and safety plans
- Develop and implement strategies to maximize the efficiency and production of crew and equipment
- Work with mechanics and/or subcontractors to troubleshoot mechanical issues, source parts and solutions and maximize equipment uptime
- Liaise with key stakeholders, including First Nations partners, licensees and government
- Update Operations Manager on production data, timelines and scheduling as needed
- Communicate with clients regarding pre-work meetings, safety reports, and day to day operational decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 5 years previous experience supervising forest harvesting operations
- Must be able to understand, interpret and execute on fuel management prescriptions
- Previous experience with utility projects, commercial thinning, cut-to-length, and operation on steep slopes an asset
- Ability to operate and understand commercial thinning equipment an asset
- Ability to develop new projects
- Must be an effective communicator with strong attention to detail and computer proficiency
- Professional forestry designation (RPF or RFT) or eligible
- Have a Class 5 driver’s licence
- Must be based in the Okanagan, or willing to relocate
COMPENSATION
This is a salary position commensurate with experience ranging between $90,000 and $110,000/annually. The position will also offer participation in our performance bonus program, company truck, comprehensive benefits package, matching RRSP contribution and other compensation.
