Hiring a Registered Forest Professional Ensures You Have the Right Skills and Competencies
As a forest sector employer, you can reduce environmental and operational risks and other liabilities involved in forest management by hiring a forest professional who is registered and regulated by Forest Professionals BC (FPBC).
In BC, the Professional Governance Act (PGA) defines the practice of professional forestry and limits it to certain registrants of FPBC: registered professional foresters (RPFs), registered forest technologists (RFTs), and limited licence holders.
The FPBC Career Posting Centre gives you access to more than 5,400 registered forest professionals. Additionally, the page is highlighted in our bi-weekly e-newsletter, The Increment.
The FPBC Career Opportunity Centre features two types of careers:
- those requiring a registered forest professional (work within the reserved practice of forestry as defined by the Forest Professionals Regulation); and
- those for other forest sector workers in areas such as human resources, communications, trades, labour, operations, GIS, and student positions.
Career postings cost $175 (plus GST) and are left up for two months or until your selected closing date.
Note: All submitted career postings are reviewed to check if the role requires a registered forest professional and that it complies with the PGA. Reviews of career postings may take up to 48 hours. You may be contacted or asked for more information about your posting if it includes references to reserved or regulated practice but does not clearly state the requirement for a registered forest professional.
How to Post a Career Opportunity
Employers seeking candidates for positions that involve the reserved practice of professional forestry in BC must include wording that candidates must be registered with FPBC (or eligible for registration) as a professional forester (RPF) and/or forest technologist (RFT).
