FPBC has a duty to investigate allegations of unprofessional conduct or improper practices by forest professionals.

Discipline Decisions
Discipline decisions are made in complaint cases that are accepted by the registrar and enter the process defined in the bylaws. Once a complaint has concluded, information regarding the resolution is posted to FPBC website within two weeks of a panel decision or receiving signatures from the parties involved.
A decision may involve disciplinary action, alternative dispute resolution or dismissal of the allegations. Disciplinary actions arise from a settlement process and consent order or will be based on the decision of a hearing panel. These publications include as much detail as possible so that registrants can learn from them and to serve as a public record of actions taken.

Unlawful Practice
Unlawful practice, also known as practice infringement, occurs when an individual not registered and licensed with FPBC, undertakes activities defined as the reserved practice of professional forestry or represents themselves as having a reserved title such as Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or Registered Forest Technologist (RFT).
