Description
The Operations Planner is a key member of the Engineering / Forestry Department and is responsible for planning the engineering and harvesting activities at a TFL located on southern Vancouver Island.
Working with other professionals in an integrated management approach to balance the different demands, the Operations Planner’s major responsibilities will include:
- Plan the engineering and harvesting operations on the TFL;
- Manage Land Use and Forest Stewardship Planning;
- Lead in Government, First Nations and Community Liaison Initiatives;
- Prepare Logging and Road Construction Plans;
- Prepare month-end Production and F&B Inventory Reports;
- Assist in the implementation of the Corporate Management System and Safety Management System to contractors and company employees.
Potential candidates’ Experience, Training, Certification and Education should include:
- Currently registered with the Forest Professionals BC as a Professional Forester (RPF) or Forest Technologist (RFT) with a minimum of 8 years of Forestry experience;
- Strong background in BC steep slope engineering and harvesting operations;
- Familiarity with the Legislation and Regulations governing forest practices in BC;
- Have competent interpersonal and communication skills, be self-directed and motivated with ability to organize and direct projects and personnel;
- Experience working with an integrated forest company environment;
- Accomplished computer skills in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
