JOB POSTING – Woodlands Manager
Thichum Forest Products (Thichum) is a sustainable forestry company under the Tla’amin Management
Services business arm for the Tla’amin Nation.
Thichum is accepting applications for the newly created Woodlands Manager position. This is an exciting
opportunity for a pivotal role in a forestry company with the vision of being a leader in sustainable management
practices across British Columbia. Thichum is a value-driven company built around the quadruple bottom line –

Reporting to the General Manager, the Woodlands Manager will support Thichum in managing a sustainable
harvest across a range of tenure types. This position offers a unique opportunity to drive innovation in forest
management practices. The ideal candidate will be organized, professional, and dedicated to upholding Tla’amin
Nation sustainable resource management practices. Registered Professional Forester designation in good standing
with the Forest Professionals of British Columbia is a requirement of this position.
Position Responsibilities
▪ Development Planning – oversee the development of cutblocks and roads across an annual development
schedule and 5-year planning cycle. Responsibilities include multi-phase contract management, assessment
planning, data management, and permitting.
▪ Operations Management – manage supervision of road building, harvest contractors, and post harvest
liabilities. Responsibilities include contract negotiations, preworks, inspections, safety, financial reporting, cut
control monitoring, and post-harvest assessments.
▪ Access management – oversee the road and bridge program including maintenance, inspections, and
permitting.
Qualifications
▪ Demonstrate strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
▪ 10 years experience in coastal timber development, engineering, and planning.
▪ Positive attitude with a desire to lead change in the BC forestry industry.
▪ Experience working in or alongside First Nation organizations.
▪ Understanding of forestry legislation.
▪ Membership in good standing with Forest Professionals of British Columbia as an RPF.
▪ Strong computer aptitude and report writing skills.
▪ High level of integrity and professionalism.
▪ Commitment to safety and experience working in field-based conditions.
▪ Valid class 5 driver’s licence.
Starting base salary for the position is $90,000 to $140,000 commensurate with education and
experience. We offer a competitive compensation and benefit package, with opportunities for
