Senior Licensed Authorizations Officer

$77,718.46 - $99,452.15 annually

As part of the Permitting Transformation division, the Permitting Solutions division is developing new approaches to provincial policy, tools, and systems to streamline decision-making, permitting, and authorizations across the Natural Resource Ministries (NRM).

The team is positioned to ensure that modernization is effectively implemented, sustained, and continuously enhanced to meet the evolving needs and interests of Indigenous peoples, clients, and citizens. The program is rooted in the pillars of People, Process, Policy, and Technology to ensure true, sustained, transformation, and modernization across permitting within the NRM and the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

The Senior Licenced Authorizations Specialist provides specialist services to the Natural Resource Sector in evaluating resource applications, conducting applied research, and leading or participating in complex projects. This position may supervise professional and technical staff.

Qualifications for this role include:

• Undergraduate Degree or higher in the natural resource sector (forestry, agriculture, hydrology, biology, etc) or a related field and related experience*, OR
• An equivalent combination of education and related experience* may be considered, AND
• Registered, or immediately eligible for registration with the British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area: Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC), Institute of Agrologists (BCIA), or Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC). Note: Immediately eligible is defined as being registered as a Professional in your specialty area in another province and able to immediately transfer to BC, or eligible for registration within 6 months of appointment.

*Related experience includes all of the following:

• 2 years or more of experience in negotiating and consulting with stakeholders in natural resource management.
• 1 year or more of experience making recommendations to statutory decision-makers.
• 1 year or more of experience (field/office) working in resource management.
