Senior Engineering Technologist

$69,760.70 - $79,322.69 annually, plus $44.49 bi-weekly isolation allowance for Mackenzie.

The Ministry of Forests is responsible for supporting a sustainable and competitive future for B.C.’s forest sector, while taking action to keep forests healthy and protect communities in the face of climate change and extreme weather events.

The Senior Engineering Technologist works closely with the District Engineering Officer, the Engineering Team, and branch to ensure the safety, environmental and legislative requirements on resource roads are met in accordance with the Engineering Program Funding Policy.

The position is focused on implementing engineering projects, which includes contract management, bridge, survey, resource roads and road design to support the achievement of project and program objectives.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Diploma in forest technology or related field (e.g. forestry, natural resources, forest engineering), or equivalent.
  • Registered, or immediately eligible for registration as a Registered Forest Technologist with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC).
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience related to supervising forest road construction, maintenance and de-activation.

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • More than five (5) years forest engineering experience and/or providing direction to contracted resources.
