Scaling Manager – Full Time Employment Opportunity
The Place: The Merritt BC Woodlands Division of Aspen Planers is currently accepting resumes for a full time position as the company’s Scaling Manager.
The Position: Aspen Planers Ltd. is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, team-orientated individual to serve as a Scaling Manager. This is a permanent, full-time position working under the direct supervision of the company’s Corporate Forester. You will work in concert with the Operations and Log Yard departments in our Merritt and Lillooet Woodlands Divisions to build log yard inventories for the companies lumber and veneer milling facilities. This position is based out of Merritt BC with some travel to Lillooet required.
Job Description:
- The Scaling Manager shall conduct interior and coastal scaling duties to ensure successful performance of the Scale Site Authorization conditions and to address and rectify any non-compliance issues in a timely manner
- Manage and Supervise the Merritt and Lillooet Scale site employees and contractors
- The Scaling Manager develops and implements the Annual Sample plan
- Stick scale ministry samples (coastal and interior), red tag, and company use loads accurately to ministry and company standards.
- Ensure that all scale data and submissions are free of error, complete and accurate.
- Maintain and continuously improve upon a strong understanding of the Interior and Coastal Scaling System.
- Ensure all interior and coastal scaling operations meet applicable government and company standards and to maximize the benefits allowed under those programs.
- Provide support to the log yard on an as need basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Must have an active Interior and coastal scaling license and weighmaster certificate with minimum 2 years’ experience.
- Working knowledge and understanding of current Interior/coastal Scaling and Weighmaster legislation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organization skills, with the ability to work. independently and as part of a team in a changing environment.
- Experience running heavy equipment will be considered an asset. If necessary training is available.
Salary range for this position is between $75,000 and $90,000 per year based on experience and education. Lesser qualified candidates are encouraged to apply. Training is available.
