Resource Professional

$76,071.18 - $86,658.48 annually

This team is responsible for delivering the BCTS Business Plan and the Prince George Business Area’s Timber Sales goals. The team is skilled in all phases of operational forestry development including total chance planning, multiphase timber development, forestry field assessments, timber appraisals, and Timber Sale Licence package development.  It collaborates across BCTS functional teams, other forest professionals, government agencies, local interest groups, and First Nations to deliver public timber to open, competitive auction.

As a Resource Professional, you’ll have an opportunity to apply your experience and expertise in forest operations management.  As a subject matter expert, you will be responsible for implementing and improving best management practices. Your role will include overseeing timber development through external contractors and guiding internal forestry development activities as an in-house subject matter expert. You will conduct reviews of timber development and investigations into harvesting practices, professionally summarizing your work with documentation and recommendations.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a natural resource field and two (2) years of related experience*; OR
  • Diploma in a natural resource field and three (3) years related experience*; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

*Related experience must include:

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in timber evaluation and appraisals.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary issues involved in natural resource management.

Professional Registration and Certification Requirement

  • Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Registered Forest Technologist (RFT), or equivalent, with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC).
