Planning Forester

$69,969.42 - $89,774.32 annually

The Planning Team is an experienced group of five (5) Forest Professionals who are passionate about shaping the future of local timber development. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to build partnerships with local First Nations and collaborate with a range of experts, such as Engineering Professionals and GIS Specialists. As a Planning Forester, you'll develop & maintain a long-term operating plan that aligns with legislative requirements. You will manage field assessment contracts, oversee the submission of final reports and play a key role in supporting the business area’s goals. This is a fantastic chance to grow your career and dive into a diverse range of professional forestry tasks!

Qualifications for this role include:

  • A Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or be eligible for registration as an RPF with Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC) and two (2) years of experience in operational field forestry activities.
  • Must possess at minimum a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence that does not limit or restrict the ability to conduct the duties of the job.

Operational field forestry activities include the following:

    • Timber harvesting monitoring/conformance
    • Cut-block development
    • Forest road engineering
    • Silviculture
    • Timber tenure development and administration
    • Planning integrated resource management

Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:

  • Directly related planning and integrated resource management experience.
  • Experience working with Indigenous Peoples.
  • Coursework or experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications.
  • Experience working with Light detection and ranging (LiDAR) data.
