THE JOB
The Operations Supervisor will set up, coordinate, supervise and manage forest operations from project inception to completion; mentor staff; and build client capacity.

ABOUT WESTLAND RESOURCES LIMITED
Westland Resources works throughout Northwest BC on a diversity of natural resource management projects, including the Energy, Forestry and Infrastructure fields. We work with our clients to manage four forest licences, two forestry licences to cut, two woodlots, a tree farm licence, and future Treaty lands.
For two decades our services have covered the spectrum from strategic advice through assessment, development and permitting, and on to operational implementation, monitoring, problem-solving, and post-project supervision. Our clients include First Nations, energy and utility companies, forest licensees, infrastructure developers and all levels of government.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
You have a well-rounded background in forest operations and supervision of forestry-related projects, with at least 5 years’ experience.
Skills we are looking for:
- Logging and road construction supervision
- Timber and log quality assessments, valuation and reporting
- Project management (planning, budgeting, ground-level implementation, supervision and monitoring)
- Contract negotiation and implementation
- Liaising and negotiating with contractors, resource agencies, stakeholders and First Nations
- Safety and environmental program planning and development
Assets would include:
- Registered (or eligible to register) with Forest Professionals BC, or certification as a Project Management Professional
- Working knowledge of BC’s natural resource regulatory environment and operational planning processes
The successful applicant will also be:
- A team-oriented self-starter looking for diversity and career growth
- A quick, adaptive learner that enjoys the woods and also comfortable working with technology (LIMS, Netscale, ArcGIS, Microsoft Office™, etc)
- Open and positive with clients and government agencies
WHAT WE OFFER
Westland offers a competitive salary (range: $83,000 - $109,000/ year), comprehensive benefits package (at the time of hire), profit sharing opportunities, pension allowance, coverage of professional dues, allowances for personal equipment and moving, work schedule flexibility (to promote work / life balance), professional development and training opportunities and a minimum signing bonus of $1500 (upon completion of a 90-day probationary period).
