About the Role:
This role focuses on leadership and management of programs that ensure safe and efficient operation of the Transmission and Distribution systems. It involves strategic planning, budgeting, reporting, and overseeing the implementation of maintenance programs to control vegetation hazards and minimize system risks.
This position is pivotal in leading our efforts to manage vegetation and environmental impacts while supporting the safety and efficiency of our operations. What You’ll Do:
- Lead the Forestry Operations team in managing vegetation on Transmission & Distribution rights-of-way.
- Lead the development and implementation of the annual Forestry Operations Business Plan, aligning with departmental objectives.
- Handle the contracting process, including procurement and management of project resources.
- Coordinate with contractors to ensure high standards of health, safety, and environmental performance.
- Guide the development of a high performing workforce by setting measurable goals and evaluating performance.
- Develop and implement safety leadership plans, ensuring adherence to health and safety policies.
- Serve as a liaison for both management and staff, fostering strong internal communications and addressing safety and operational concerns.
- Maintain and enhance relationships with Indigenous leaders and communities, ensuring engagement and sustainable cooperation.
- Represent the Forestry Operations at management meetings and operational discussions.
What You Bring:
- A degree or diploma in Forestry, Environmental Science, or related field, or certification as a Utility Vegetation Management Professional.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management with a strong background in vegetation management, forestry, utilities, or oil and gas.
- Willingness to travel as required and a valid class 5 driver’s license.
- In-depth knowledge of applicable Provincial/Federal legislation and industry standards.
- Strong leadership capabilities with excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in regulatory support, project management, and contractor oversight.
- Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
