These positions can be based out of any of the locations listed above. Flexible work options are available; these positions may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement and successfully completed probation period. Indigenous Relations Liaison
$69,969.42 - $89,774.32 annually
BC Timber Sales (BCTS) is a unique program of the Ministry of Forests. Working collaboratively with regional and district operations, BCTS plans, develops, and auctions a substantial portion of the province’s annual available timber volume. BCTS operations are guided by three overarching principles: forest sector safety, reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples and sustainable forest management.
The Indigenous Relations Liaison will be part of the BCTS Kootenay Indigenous Relations Team, a collaborative and diverse group dedicated to building strong partnerships with Indigenous Peoples across the Kootenay Business Area. Our team is committed to fostering inclusive and respectful relationships that honor Indigenous Rights and Title. You’ll work closely with both BCTS staff and Indigenous communities to ensure meaningful engagement and promote equitable practices in all project decisions. This is a rewarding opportunity to foster partnerships that support reconciliation and sustainable development.
Qualifications for this role include:
• Registered, or eligible for registration, as professional (i.e., Registered Professional Forester) with the British Columbia association as required by the specialty area, and 2 (two) years of experience related to natural resource (i.e., forestry) or Indigenous Peoples relationship management. Registered Forest Technologist do not qualify as professionals under this classification series.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must possess at minimum a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence that does not limit or restrict the ability to conduct the duties of the job.
