Forestry Technician

Kenpesq’t Forestry is seeking a full-time Forestry Technician. As a Forestry Technician, you will play a key role in forestry operations, conducting fieldwork and assessments while ensuring compliance with provincial regulations and safety standards. This position is primarily field-based and will require you to work at remote locations in all weather conditions, with some travel. If this is you, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities:
• Conduct sustainable block layout and road development, ensuring responsible planning and implementation.
• Perform timber reconnaissance to assess forest conditions and resource availability.
• Execute timber cruising to determine timber volume and stand composition.
• Conduct riparian assessments to evaluate watercourse impacts and regulatory compliance.
• Carry out waste and residue assessments as per provincial requirements.
• Collect ecological data to support environmental monitoring and sustainability efforts.
• Utilize GPS technology for data collection, road traversing, and mapping.
• Prepare engineering cost estimates for road construction and development projects.
• Adhere to all safety standards and company policies to ensure a safe and responsible working environment.

Experience:

• Relevant field experience in forestry operations in British Columbia.
• Diploma or Degree in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or a related field an advantage.
• RFT or RPF designation (or willingness to work towards) with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC) is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of BC forest regulations, practices, and environmental standards.
• Proficiency in GIS, GPS, and forestry-related software.
• Experience conducting timber cruising, layout, and road development.
• Experience working outdoors.

• Ability to work in diverse terrain and weather conditions

• Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Conditions of Employment:

• Must have a Class 5 Driver’s License.
• Must have or be willing to take Intermediate OFA and Transportation Endorsement.
• Willingness and ability to work in diverse terrain, weather conditions, and remote locations
• Willingness to travel, work extended shifts, and occasional multi-day trips
