G.O. Wood Forestry Services Ltd has been in business in the 100 Mile House and surrounding area since 2007. The company maintains a secure client base through annually renewed contracts with West Fraser Timber, Tolko Industries, Clinton Community Forest and 100 Mile Community Forest. Additional clients include Kenkeknem Forest Tenures Ltd., government direct award and contract bids, as well as various woodlots. We specialize in forest management, providing services such as full phase cutting permit development, timber cruising, silviculture, drone-based surveys, waste surveys, urban interface and primary fuel break layout and prescription development, and pile burning.

Job Position Overview:

We are currently seeking to fill two full-time positions as a Forest Technologist and a Junior Forest Technologist, both located in 100 Mile House, BC. These roles will provide exposure to various aspects of forest management, focusing particularly on multiphase timber development. The work involves seasonal variations in duties, but the core responsibilities listed below remain consistent. These positions are field based, with some scheduled office time, and rarely require working in camp shift settings. On-the-job training will be provided as required.  Pay range $22.00 – 35.00 per hr.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in forestry operations, development, or layout.
  • Diploma or degree in Forestry or related field; eligible for registration with FPBC (RPF, RFT, FIT, TFT.)
  • Understanding of basic forest practices.
  • Timber development experience is an asset.
  • Cruising, site prescriptions experience is an asset.
  • Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in outdoor environments.
  • problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office, Avenza maps. Experience in other applications such as ArcMap, CruiseMate, SNAP, DroneDeploy would be considered an asset.
  • Experienced in safe operation of ATV’s and snowmobiles.

General responsibilities:

  • Conduct field level timber development projects, including block and road layout, and timber cruising.
  • Timber reconnaissance
  • Perform riparian data collection and produce riparian summary reports.
  • Collect, manage and report SP data collection.
  • GPS traversing
