There are two (2) positions available, that can be performed in Williams Lake or Quesnel. 

Forest Technologist

$64,123.59 - $72,674.35 annually

The BC Timber Sales – Cariboo Chilcotin team is dedicated to sustainably managing crown timber while maintaining healthy, mature forests for future generations. The Harvesting and Silviculture teams each consist of seven experienced professionals, including foresters, technologists and supervisors, who work closely together to ensure efficient timber harvesting and effective forest regeneration.

This position plays a vital role in supporting sustainable forestry by ensuring the quality of contract work, monitoring harvest operations, conducting road inspections and maintaining accurate digital records. By contributing to timber sale licenses and contracts, the role helps generate revenue that directly benefits local communities while fostering responsible environmental practices. Qualifications for this role include:

  • Graduation with a diploma or a degree in resource or forestry management.
  • Registered with Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC) as a Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) or Registered Professional Forester (RPF) AND a minimum of two (2) years of experience in operational field forestry activities, OR
  • Enrolled, or eligible for immediate enrollment, with Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC) as a forest professional in training (TFT, ASTFT, FIT, ASFIT), for the purpose of obtaining an RFT or RPF designation AND a minimum of four (4) years of experience in operational field forestry activities.
  • Operational field forestry activities include one or more of the following:
    • Timber harvesting cut-block development
    • Forest road engineering
    • Silviculture
    • Harvest operations
    • Compliance and enforcement
  • Must possess at minimum a valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License that does not limit or restrict the ability to conduct the duties of the job.
