This is a temporary opportunity until September 30, 2026. Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement. 

Engineering Officer

$76,071.18 - $86,658.48 annually

The Chilliwack Natural Resource District is looking for a dynamic and passionate individual to join our talented, productive, high energy Engineering team. Your skills will compliment members already on the Team including an Engineering officer, Senior Engineering Technologist and a diverse group of in-house and external professionals. As an Engineering Officer, you'll be key in planning and managing engineering projects both operational and those related to the Atmospheric River/extreme weather event in 2021. You'll oversee and coordinate engineering activities, develop and manage contracts and budgets and interact with the public, First Nation partners and a variety of interested parties. There is ample opportunity in this role to learn and to develop your project management skills.

Qualifications for this role include:

• A diploma in a natural resource field (i.e. forestry, forest engineering, survey geomatics, geoscience) and five (5) years of related experience; OR
• A Bachelor’s degree in a natural resource field (i.e. forestry, forest engineering, survey geomatics, geoscience) or civil engineering and three (3) years of related experience; OR
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
• Valid class 5 B.C. driver’s licence or equivalent.
• You must be registered (or immediately eligible for registration) as a Forest Technologist (RFT) or as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC), or as Professional Engineered (P.Eng.) with the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia.

Related experience includes all of the following:

• Experience in contract and/or project supervision.
• Experience supervising staff or overseeing contractors.
• Budget management experience.
