THE OPPORTUNITY
Western Forest Products have a new opportunity for a Custom Cut Co-ordinator in Vancouver, BC.
What You’ll Do: The Custom Cut Co-ordinator is an important leadership role coordinating the planning and execution of third-party sawmilling to deliver products and production volumes in a manner that supports the Company’s safety, sustainability, and financial goals.
Who You Are: You bring 8+ years’ experience in lumber manufacturing, preferably within production, quality control, lumber grading or related. This leadership role requires a great level of detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. You have experience leading in Sawmill operations, with a strong expertise and knowledge of lumber grading.

- Salary range of $90,000 - $110,000 based on skill level, qualifications, and experience

Work Environment: This role is to be performed out of our downtown office in Vancouver, B.C and with some travel across the Lower Mainland, B.C.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safety - maintaining WFP standards at all times;
- Pro forma prior to each cut;
- Log inspection and log feedback;
- Quality control of products;
- Create a cut spec to fulfill contracts and requirements from Sales;
- Maintain finished inventory regarding accumulations and age;
- Maintain log inventory regarding turns and age;
- Organize and coordinate log sort volume to Custom Cut facilities;
- Co-ordinate and schedule processing time at Custom Cut facilities;
- Confirming accuracy of consumption and invoices/costs;
- Provide Cut Economics including KPI’s;
- Communicate closely with sales to fulfill customer requirements and target best margin for WFP;
- Confirming accuracy of consumption and invoices/costs;
- Provide detail and comments regarding completed cuts regarding recoveries, costs, margin, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- 8-10 years of experience in Lumber Manufacturing in increasingly responsible roles;
- Sawmill experience including leadership;
- Processing experience;
- Post-secondary education in Wood Products Processing or equivalent;
- Extensive knowledge of and experience with coastal lumber and grading;
- Grading Certificate;
- Tally Certificate.
Skills, Knowledge, and Required Competencies
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate across all levels of the organization;
- Understanding of Log Grades, Log Sorts and Scaling;
